Our customers asked for more routes and more hills! This new Advanced Rider Segway Tour incorporates more riding , bigger hills and a bit less historical narration. And now the answer to riders' number one request, "Can we ride down the crookedest street?" is yes you can!
Our newest and most challenging route! The Advanced Tour is for people who have ridden a Segway before, and wish to see a little more, and test the machine a little further. What better testing grounds than the hills of San Francisco! Tour includes scooting up Russian Hill, riding down the worlds crookedest street, seeing the sights in North Beach Little Italy and a glide along the waterfront
Your guide, while knowledgeable of local history and tourist information, is an experienced Segway trainer that will assist you throughout the Tiour with your segway riding techniques and provide you with various Segway skills.
Tour time includes at least 20-25 minutes of detailed guest training / refresher course so you can learn / re-learn the skills needed. A Segway is not an ideal mode of touring for people with some mobility issues. The training time is part of the overall tour time. Helmets and safety vests are provided and required. San Francisco Hills Advanced Segway Tour - Terms and Conditions:
Reservations require a full deposit via Credit Card. Please bring your voucher with you. Deposits are fully refundable if the reservation is canceled 3 days -72 hours or more prior to the scheduled tour. We have a limited amount of Segways . No Shows are charged in full. The deposit WILL NOT be refunded for any reason within 72 hours of your scheduled tour. A signed liability waiver is required prior to your tour departure.
Company reserves the right to change the size or routing of the tour to meet demands for that specific day. San Francisco is famous for the fog! Tours run fog, light rain or shine. Company suggests bringing multiple layers of warm clothing for any San Francisco activity. Summer afternoon temperatures can be in the 50's. It can be very windy in San Francisco along the bay. Rain gear is available for those infrequent rainy days. Segways are designed to run in any weather. If seasonal fog or weather obscures the view, tour routes may be altered. You will not be charged if we cancel a tour.
Riders must:
Guests on this advanced tour must have taken a Segway Tour (ours or in another city- not a 5 minute test ride a full 1 + hour tour) in the last 12 months. This is not a beginner tour or appropriate for guests with mobility issues.
Be age 12 and up over 100 lbs (45 kilos). Guests under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. (If you are concerned about mobility issues please call us to discuss. We want every rider to have a safe tour.)
Pregnant guests are not allowed on the tour.
Not recommended for guests over 70.
This tour is more strenuous than our other San Francisco Tours.
Do not book this tour if you don't want to ride up and down hills or tire easily. You will be standing for 2 hours.
Be able to easily and quickly step on and off the Segway without assistance, which requires physical abilities similar to climbing and descending stairs without any assistance or use of a handrail. You will be standing for 2 hours.
Weigh between 100 and 250 pounds (45 to 113 kilos). Weight and age restrictions will be strictly enforced.
Wear the helmet and safety vest that is provided with the tour.
Not wear flip-flops, open-toe sandals, or high heels.
Complete the Segway rider training and test ride.
Respect road signs, pedestrians, bikes and cars for a safe enjoyable ride.
Riders are responsible for all damage to equipment and will be required to pay damage fees as assessed by a company manager
Riders will be required to sign a waiver of liability.
This tour subject to a minimum of 4 guests. Groups will be combined.
Routes in San Francisco are mainly on designated bike lanes. These bike lanes are adjacent to city streets. In some places the bike lane is the full width of the city street. We are in a busy big city and will be in some high traffic areas. San Francisco has more bike lanes per square mile than any other US City. Unlike Segway tours in other US cities we cannot operate the tours on the sidewalk. Each Segway has a radio so the guide can advise you to upcoming changes in the route. Similar to a bike ride you will have to be aware of your surroundings and traffic.
